On Saturday the 9th of September I was lucky enough to go to the Asos Go Play event. ( One of the perks if you are a member of the ASOS A-List ). I didn’t really know what to expect but it was an opportunity I couldn’t resist as the email suggests… This unmissable experience will immerse you in a wonderland of makeup, hair and skincare, free from stereotypes, rules and limits. The event was held in Covent Garden and I took my friend Rachel along with me. We both love makeup so it was nice to hang out with someone who has a mutual appreciation for all things beauty related.

We arrived at the venue and were greeted by the sounds of music and banners and posters promoting the event.

We were also greeted by security who went through the usual verifications etc. Once inside the friendly Asos staff guided us through different rooms….

The balloon room. This room had a variety of water filled balloons stuck to the ceiling…

I wasn’t too sure about this room …

However Rachel appeared to enjoy it !

We then moved onto what appeared to be a square filled with golden balls. In order to get to the other side we had to through the balls ….

We were then greeted by a sign….

Once we walked past the sign we were greeted by this ….

A giant wig ! I was rather intrigued by this and so was Rachel …..

As we moved on there were more things to interact with …,

And then we entered beauty heaven Asos had an entire beauty range in one room and that’s not all … we were allowed to use them …

Rachel and I died and went to beauty heaven! There were so much products to use!

A brilliant opportunity to test out Lime Crime products.

Asos stylists were also at the event carrying out makeovers using GHD and various other products. So while I took some blog photos Rachel jumped at the opportunity of being styled and pampered

I had an interesting chat with the stylist in regards to how to style different fashion looks and also what her job entails. The stylist used Gorgeous GHD products on Rachel’s hair ( I thought GHD only produced hair straighteners! )

Rachel’s completed look ( absolutely gorgeous)

Once Rachel’s pamper session was over we continued to swatch and make notes of our beauty favourites

Before we left we were prompted to take part in a lucky dip and I managed to get my hands on these products!!!!

I died and went to heaven! My lucky dip prizes were GHD products!

The event was such a positive experience. Ok so my beauty wish list might have grown slightly however I found new products and new products I could swatch and test out at my leisure. September was my birthday month and Asos put the icing on the cake by making it a memorable one!

Have you tried the products in Asos’s Face + Body section ?

If, like me, you don’t wear heels on a regular basis, special occasions can instill pure dread at the thought of having your feet trapped in heels for an entire day!

I’m probably over exaggerating but I don’t wear heels on a daily basis as I work in a job that requires me to wear flats and the majority of the time I usually wear trainers.  So heels are mainly worn for special occasions etc.

I’m sure the following resonates with some of you; We’ve all been there… those elegant heels that work so well with your new outfit turns into murderous weapons of torture by the end of the night. With the balls of your feet screaming blue murder and swelling by the minute, you either decide very little movement is best, or you kick-off those heels.

I thought I found a solution to my discomfort in the form of foldable flats found on Amazon. The manufacturers description ” Dance the night away, then when your feet hurt just slip on your roll up shoes”

Unfortunately I hopped the night away and the flats caused more pain than the heels! The flats were poorly made and offered very little support, by the end of the evening they fell apart and that was only after wearing them for a couple of hours!

I wasn’t put off by this because I knew there had to be a pair of flats that met my criteria if not I will invent my own! So my checklist for the perfect flats included;

  1. Comfort
  2. Quality
  3. Durability
  4. Price

Step forward the Rollbab fold-up, compact ballerina pumps!!!

The foldable flats you can pop in your handbag and call on when the pain kicks in. I found them on SecretSales.com I was slightly dubious about these shoes as I have never heard of them. However after a lot of research I took the plunge and made the purchase. In the parcel I received:

  1. Foldable Flats
  2. A dust bag
  3. Matching bag ( that doubles up as a tote bag )

The flats are beautiful and very comfortable so much so they can even be used as an everyday pair of flats as opposed to a standard pair of “back up of flats” which may offer little support.

Materials: upper – leatherette, lining – leatherette, sole – thermoplastic. As you can see the soles have grip which was a big selling point for me because I hate shoes that don’t offer support especially on slippery prone floors.

As you can see the shoes fold very well which allows you to pop them into your bag while on the go for a discreet alternative to heels.

I bought two pairs of Rollbabs. A funky silver pair and a black pair ( nice and plain and versatile for the office etc ). They are well made, so much so they have lasted me six months and are still in good condition.

The matching bag is very handy because it doubles up as a tote bag in which you can easily store your heels etc into etc.

I highly recommend these flats for ladies who are on their feet all day and need a pair of reliable flats; also for those of you who have a special event to go but wold like to slip into something more comfortable in the evening

As always my posts are not complete without the price ….Drumroll

These flats retail at £69 however on Secret Sales website the price is discount to £32 !

I managed to a whittle the price down by using vouchers from previous purchases so I ended up paying £25 for them!!!!!!!.

Rollbab flats are usually sold on Secret Sales website. Please note the flats are listed on the website for a limited period.Do you use foldable flats?
